Brazil FA president continues to insist on Ancelotti appointment: “Has vision and courage”

The Brazilian football association is still hoping to hire Carlo Ancelotti in the upcoming summer, despite reports that he will remain Real Madrid’s manager for the upcoming campaign.

In a recent interview, Brazil’s FA president Ednaldo Rodrigues stated that Ancelotti is still his first candidate in the search for a new Selecao manager.

“Hiring Ancelotti remains our plan A in its entirety. We believe this has a chance of succeeding. We’ll hold off till the Spanish League campaign is over. Barcelona is the current champion, but we’ll hold off until the competition is through since we have a gut feeling it might succeed,” he said Band (h/t MARCA).

Ednaldo responded when it was brought out that Ancelotti had played down the rumors linking him to Brazil, saying, “If I were in his position, with a contract in force, I would not detract from the company that hired me to do that either.”

Ednaldo continued by reiterating that Brazil is seeking a coach who can oversee a project that includes both the senior and youth teams in addition to managing the senior team.

“He (Ancelotti) is a coach with that vision and the guts to bring in fresh talent. We are still waiting, so without disparaging any other coach whom we respect — and Brazil has many coaches that we appreciate because they are capable — he said.

Later this summer, the Brazilian FA president added, he wants to have more information on the team’s coach. “We hope to be able to have a clearer position already in June and that we can speak with greater conviction,” he stated.

Ednaldo stated that Brazil is looking at alternative candidates but gave the impression that Ancelotti is still the top choice. He continued by saying that the Selecao was eager to not only compete in the upcoming World Cup, but also win it.
