Man Utd quit out Frimpong chase as player’s new contract confirmed

Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen has been linked to Manchester United over the past few months, but Diogo Dalot’s new contract may put an end to the rumors.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, now 24 years old, began the season as the unquestioned right-back choice over Dalot, but since the World Cup break, the latter has been a regular starter for the Red Devils.

Recent praise from Erik ten Hag for Wan-Bissaka’s outstanding performance in 2023 makes it quite evident that the 25-year-old won’t be leaving the team during the summer transfer window.

As of late, according to Fabrizio Romano, Dalot is close to signing a new, long-term contract. In our opinion, this should put an end to the continuing Frimpong transfer saga.

With nine goals and eleven assists this season, Frimpong has excelled for Leverkusen. For Xabi Alonso’s team, the Dutchman has primarily played as the right wing-back.

Leverkusen reportedly value him at between £40 and £50m, but it is quite improbable that United will spend that much money while keeping both Wan-Bissaka and Dalot.

Dalot’s agreement ought to put an end to Frimpong’s search as a result. This summer, United may be better suited using the money to sign a star striker, center midfielder, and center defender.

The Red Devils manager appears to be most interested in signing Harry Kane, Mason Mount, and Kim Min-jae, and that would make for a strong transfer window. Ideally, the transaction will be completed quickly.

United will get at least £60m in TV revenue alone as a result of their Champions League qualification. With sponsorship bonuses included, they might earn more than £100m in income.

Therefore, if the Glazers opt against a transfer of ownership, they have no excuse not to make significant purchases. Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are still interested in buying the club.
